The Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science is one of the largest departments of the Technical University . Its main objective is to provide outstanding high education and to carry out competitive specific research in the field of computer science and engineering.
The specific of the education offered by the department is targeting the study and design of computer and network system's components from both hardware and software perspectives as well as offering multiple specialization alternatives such as: software engineering, artificial intelligence and vision, operating systems, database design, compiler design, transactional systems, computer architecture design, computer networks and distributed systems.
As a result, the graduates of the Computer Science and Information Technology programs could equally work as researchers and designers of basic hardware or software components, as designers of complex software applications, or as systems engineers and network administrators.
A periodical curricula improvement and updating is carried out, based on the experience and high competence of the department's academic staff. The education provided by the Department of Computer Science ensures: the engineering specific of the training; the balance between the general technical, domain fundamental and narrow specialization subjects; the integration of both theoretical an practical aspects.
The formative type of education allows our graduates an easy integration and adaptation to the dynamic market requests.
The Department runs continuously four educational programs:
- Bachelor Degree (4 years) in Romanian and English,
- Master degrees (3 semesters),
- PhD (full time and part time).
The Computer Science Department approaches a wide range of research topics which addresses fundamental issues in Computer Science and Information Technology. Also, t he Department is involved in national and international research grants and contracts in cooperation with other universities or industrial partners.
