The Mathematics Department
The Department of Mathematics was set up in 1952, four years after the Institute of Mechanics (first name of T.U.C.N.) had been founded. Now the department is a part of The Faculty of Automation and Computer Sciences , but it ensures the mathematical education of all the students of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.
The head of the Department is Prof. Dr. Nicolae Lung . The Department of Mathematics has 37 members: 36 academic staff and one in the administrative staff. The academic staff has a wide range of research topics, on both pure and applied mathematics.
