EDUCATIONAL OFFER
The Faculty of Civil Engineering from Cluj-Napoca offers courses in the field of civil engineering, management and building technology, and land measurement engineering. Studies are organized on three levels:
- Bachelor studies (Bachelor of Science) - four year studies;
- Master’s degree studies (Master of Science) - two year studies;
- Doctoral studies (Philosophy Degree) three year studies.
The faculty also offers qualification courses and training for professional reorientation.
Bachelor studies take four years (subsidized or paid courses) in the following fields:
• CIVIL ENGINEERING - with the following specializations:
- Civil, industrial and agriculture constructions;
- Civil, industrial and agriculture constructions - (in English);
- Railways, roads and bridges;
- Hydrotechnical facilities and construction;
- Urban planning and regional development.
• ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT:
- Economy engineering in constructions.
• GEODESIC ENGINEERING:
- Land measurements and real estate register.
Students enrolled in the Civil Engineering specializations study the first two years together as one specialization. Students are organized into the specializations according to their decision as well as their average result of the first two years of study.
Our curricula combine theoretical knowledge with applications practiced via projects, lab activities and site practical work to offer our students the skills and abilities needed on the labour market.
The skills of our graduate students are:
• planning
• execution
• maintenance.
Our Master's degree studies are for graduate students with a Bachelors of Science diploma. The studies take two years and are concluded with a disseration thesis
The Faculty of Civil Engineering offers Master studies in the following specializations:
• Structural engineering
• Pathology and rehabilitation of buildings
• Transportation infrastructure engineering
• Geotehnics engineering
• Sustainable concrete construction
• Special technologies engineering
• Project management and real estate evaluation.
The skills of our mater’s degree students are:
• planning in construction with responsabilities of design solutions
• execution and maintenance in construction
• research and development in construction
• consultancy , technical assistance and verification of design solutions and planning.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering has a Doctoral school (coordinated by prof. Iacob Bors, PhD) in the field of Civil Engineering. The studies take 3 years.
In the academic year of 2008-2009 the doctoral school has had 157 students and 23 doctoral studies coordinators. From 1960 on, over 150 Ph. D. thesis has been publicaly defended within the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
The skills of a PhD graduate are:
• planning in construction with responsabilities of design solutions
• execution and maintenance in construction
• research, development, consultancy, verification for building projects; technical expertise
• higher education activities.
These courses are organized in the field of Civil engineering for the following specializations:
• Civil, industrial and agriculture construction
- Energy audit in construction for first and second degree
- Hydro-thermic, acustic and fire proof planning of buildings
• Railways, roads and bridges
- Urban engineering and management
- Bridge rehabilitation and river banks consolidation.
