Department
of Electrotechnics
The Department of Electrotechnics was founded in 1962
at the same time with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
Prof. Nicolae Patachi being the first head of the department.
This covered initially the following domains: Basics of
Electrical ngineering, Electrical Measurements and Electric
Drives. Heads of the departments were Prof.Dr.Eng. Arpad
Kelemen, Prof.Dr. Eng. Crivi Mircea, Prof. Dr.Eng. Mindru
Gheorghe, Prof. Dr. Eng. Emil Simion. The Head of the
department is now Prof. Dr. Eng. Vasile Topa.
Department of Power Engineering
The Electrical Power Systems Department, successor of the Utilisations Department, has been founded in 1962, at the same time as the Electrical Engineering Faculty. Including a large area of power systems courses and research activities, this department is promoting its technical domain development in Transylvania mainly by supporting an Electrical Power Systems specialization.
The Department of Electrical Machines, Marketing and Management
Prof. Eng. I. A. Viorel, Ph.D. founded the Department of Electrical Machines, Marketing & Management in 1990.
Department of Electrical Drives and Robots
The Department of Electric Drives and Robots was established in 1991. The founding members are academic staff of the team dealing with Electric Drives in the former Department of Electrical Engineering from the Faculty bearing the same name. The team was in fact formed in the 1960's when the first graduates in electrical engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Cluj finished the faculty and were employed as academic staff.
Electrical Measurements Department
Belonging to the Department of Electrical engineering already from the ‘60s with a professionally rich tradition, the Department of ELECTRICAL MEASUREMENTS became an independent entity in 1992, as a result of grouping the specialized subjects and inclusion of measurement problem within the reality of technical progress.
