The Faculty of Electrical Engineering trains engineers for the following domains and specializations:

  • Electrical Engineering
    • Electrotechnics
    • Instrumentation and data acquisition
    • Power electronics and electrical drives
    • Electromechanics
  • Power Systems
    • Energy management
  • Engineering Applied Sciences
    • Medical Engineering

Within the structure of the Educational Curricula ensuring the teaching process, an important stress is also laid on a multipurpose basics training that provides advanced knowledge of Electronics, Automation, Informatics, and Computer Science without which the Electrical engineering education cannot be imagined. The flexibility of the Electrical engineering education allows professional orientation towards other technical domains.

The subjects fundamental for the specialized engineer training are studied during the first two years (Mathematics, Physics, Informatics) without neglecting students' interest for general knowledge (History of Science and Logics). The study of subjects, characteristic for the electrical specialization starts now: Basics of Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, and Measurement Techniques. During the IIIrd and IVth years, the specialized subjects are differentiated to a certain extend according to the faculty the student is registered at.

The professional training of the students of The Faculty of Electrical Engineering does not neglect an important aspect of post-graduation activity, i.e. management. Those interested in a teaching career can study subjects as: Pedagogy, Methodology, and Psychology as part of the Course of Pedagogical Seminar.

The Educational Curricula are drawn up by the faculty, analyzed within the Council, approved by the University Senate and the Ministry of National Education. Its modification can be done only in the first year of study, drawn up by the head-teachers and approved by the department.

For this year, post-graduation Studies with the following specializations are organized within the Faculty of Electrical engineering:

  • CAD (Computer Aided Design in Electrical Engineering)
  • Computer Controlled Electromechanical Systems, Measurements and Signal Processing
  • Automation of Electrical Drives
  • Industrial Power Systems
Another component of the activity in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering is represented by the research as a natural and formative preoccupation. Important results have been obtained in this domain, but the scientific research is affected now by the general crisis of the research system in Romania. In spite of this, the scientific research within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has been developed according to Humboldt Model, which considers research an important part of the institution and any teacher should be involved in it. We took a distance from the Napoleon Model, which offered only training in this case.

The research was focused on the specificity of the research laboratories existent within every department and on the Ph.D. training domains. The Ph.D. program represents a higher level form of combining teaching with research, available for long-term education graduates, with graduation diploma, being concluded with a publicly defended thesis and evaluated by a board of specialists. The title of Ph.D. is awarded by the Board of the University and confirmed by the National Office of Holders, Diplomas and Certificates Attestation within The Ministry of National Education and Ph.D. Diploma is issued based on the Minister's order.

Besides the Romanian students, a certain number of foreign people (from Germany , Greece , Hungary , Republic of Moldavia , Syria etc) are Ph.D. candidates within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The Ministry of National Education offers grants with the duration of 3-4 years to those interested in Ph.D. attending programs. These can be obtained by entrance examination sustained at the University and the grantees have the rights and obligations of research assistants.

Mirrors should reflect more before sending back the images”, said Jean Cocteau in an indirect critique essay. “If it were so, the history of our own persons would be spared of many disappointments”.

As the general history evolves, we build our own identity, our own history. Within this context, man seems an animal capable of constructing and developing his own destiny starting with perspective projects. He makes his own history, which doesn't mean his plans succeed, but they initiate complex and antithetical processes whose results are always a modification of system in which he is involved.
