More than 7000 engineers trained by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering carry the intellectual sign of our institution to all meridians, like in an endless kaleidoscope, underlining, warning, affirming or negating a continuous intelectual creation and thinking state, which cannot stop, being itself life or maybe one of its primary sense.
Due to necessities and thanks to certain visionary people, the Department of Electrical Engineering was founded in 1960 within the Faculty of Mechanics, department that became the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1964 having 528 students.
In 1977, after 13 years, the Faculty developed its new departments of Electronics and Telecommunications, Automation and Computers. In 1990, after 13 years more, 3 other faculties were detached from the initial nucleus, respecting the above-mentioned departments' profile and hoping to distinguish themselves through utility, professionalism and scientific image.
The Electrical Engineering Education has its specific particuliarities that make it partially different from other specific forms, imposing education and an informational transfer with special physico-mathematical subtleties.
Thus, even if at a first glance there is no connection between a direct-current motor and an electronic oscilloscope, it can be observed that the laws on which the deviation of an electronic beam is based are the same. But the objective of these laws' application is fundamentally different. In the first case the conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy is aimed at, the engineer having in mind optimal conversion efficiency. In the second case the efficiency is not taken into consideration. The goal here is to present an interesting piece of information on the screen, the form of a high-fidelity signal.
These two examples illustrate two very different but not contradictory attitudes, linked with electricity, which can be found in the teaching process:
Electricity – form of Energy – which means production, transport, stock, distribution and usage.
Electricity – information carrier – which means its transmission, processing, conversion in perceptible forms and memorization.
According to the above-mentioned, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering trains engineers for the following domains:
General Electrical engineering
Electrical Drives and Robots
Metrology and Virtual Tooling/Measurement Systems
Electrical Machines and Management
Industrial power Systems
Within the structure of the Educational Programmes ensuring the teaching process, an important stress is also laid on a multipurpose basics training that provides advanced knowledge of Electronics, Automation, Informatics, Informatics and Computer Technics without which the Electrotechnical education cannot be imagined.
The flexibility of the Electrotechnical education allows professional orientation towards other suitable domains, which are countless.
As market-based society is self-defining, information becomes consumer good without which life is impossible. In such a world communication mass means tend to replace the freedom of dialogue with the authority of monologue. Because of this, remembrances – as the present one – maintain the reality image under the explanatory power of word. Man's autonomy towards nature or personality towards society starts with the word that accumulates knowledge and information in a wandering world unable to experience closed spaces. This is the thing we, through the students' subtleness try to offer, and what follows are the landmarks of certain strategies…
The delimitation between culture and information represents the main reason of those who denigrate the message of option. In this sense, the scholastic advantage of education urges us to transform the definitions' search into a condition of knowledge by following the example of Mathematics. 250 definitions were found for the notion of culture, but, etimologically speaking, by “cultivated” we actually understand “to be colonized”. That is, to be cultivated means to be highlighted …
It is a well-known fact that the individuality of a university is given by the contents it conveys and reproduces, it researches and applies and the faculty is clearly identified by a knowledge-associated finality, by specific research and applications fields.
