Department of Bases of Electronics: It provides proficiency in the academic activities offered by the university according to all the academic forms of technical education: Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Studies. The offered courses include fundamentals subjects in the training of the future specialist (such as Electronic Devices and Circuits; Signals, Circuits and Systems; Integrated Circuits; Optoelectronics) and advanced subjects such as Integrated VLSI Circuits, Systems for Digital Signal Processing, Complex Electronic Circuits, Fuzzy Systems, Optical Communications. Beside the academic activity, the department members are involved in national/international research or academic projects based on scientific research contracts, such as COST or SOCRATES Programmes in cooperation with partner universities from Germany, Finland , Scotland , Ireland , etc.

Communications Department: It provides proficiency in the academic activities offered by the university according to Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Studies as well as post-graduate courses (such as Cisco Networking Academy ) . The academic activities support especially training in Telecommunications and consists of the following topics: Theory of Information Transmission, Microprocessors Systems, Communications Techniques, Computer Networks, Radiocommunications, Telephony, Television, Switching Systems, Speech Processing, Image Processing, Data Transmission, Cryptography, Multimedia Applications, Internet Protocols, Mobile Communications, Wireless Systems, Signal Processors, Web Technologies, etc. The department members are successfully involved in national projects such as CNCSIS, INFO-SOC, but especially in European projects such as FP-6 "BROADWAN", "KALEIDOSCOPE", COST 276/280/289/290, LEONARDO "POOL", SOCRATES-ERASMUS.

Applied Electronics Department: It provides proficiency in the academic activities offered by the university according to the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Studies. The academic activities cover a large area beginning with the fundamental courses (Passive Electronic Components and Circuits, Electronic Materials, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Computer Aided Design) and ending with the specialized courses (Power Electronics, Microcontrollers, Electronic Equipments, Medical Electronics, Switching Power Supplies). The department members are involved in national/international research and academic projects based on some scientific research contracts, as well as on the cooperation with partners from the industry: Siemens VDO, Continental Automotive, National Instruments, Elster-ABB, etc.

Physical Training and Sports Group: It provides proficiency in physical training and sports (sportive games, aerobics, fitness, even swimming) and it also trains students at basketball, volleyball, football or even at one of the branches of the Club " C.S.U. POLITEHNICA".
